I bought it cheap on B00kbub and thought it would be a piece of fluff. War Nurse is a 1930 American Pre-Code war film directed by Edgar Selwyn and starring Robert Montgomery, Anita Page, June Walker and Robert Ames..

Overall, it was an interesting fictional narrative based on real people and I would recommend it to friends.

The story was enjoyable, though the characters annoyed me at times, Mairi was terribly naive and though she grew somewhat throughout the nearly 4 years spent on the front, in many respects she remained as naive as at the beginning.

This story is based on real people and events. I absolutely loved this beautifully written book, and was so absorbed in the story that I did not want it to end.
