Also loved that the explanation made a fantastic kind of sense and wasn't pulled out of the ass end of nowhere in an attempt to be clever as so often happens with this type of adventure book. The Anomaly should appeal to fans of The X-Files or Fringe as well as anyone looking for an enjoyable tale. People are going to be badgering you to be on their talk shows. Action from the beginning and I could not predict the ending. I could NOT wait for this one to end. The actual writing is like JK Rowling or Patterson or the usual mass market paperback novel writer - passable but not dazzling.

DNF @ 20% because the main character was insufferably pretentious. I finished it and struggled to define the plot. Nolan and his colleagues, accompanied by Feather, travel from Los Angeles to the Grand Canyon to attempt to locate a cavern allegedly found by an early-20th-century expedition sponsored by the Smithsonian Institution, which later suppressed the expedition’s discovery of “evidence that North America was visited in eldritch times by another culture.” Nolan and gang succeed in finding the cavern, only to encounter incredible—and terrifying—objects that place their lives in jeopardy. He lives in California with his wife and son. The episode they are about to film takes place in a cave hidden in the Grand Canyon, but nobody is really sure where. The low level sarcasm is perfect.

In the off times my wife and I watch a program about an ancient civilization, we love to mock the story line. If you want a real scare, set aside your beloved horror classics—you know what darkness lurks within their pages, what... To see what your friends thought of this book. I don't find it a "job" criticizing and berating republicons, and trump drones, I find it my duty not only as an American, also a human being. It's an interesting evening read, as long as you're not looking for it to be 'gripping and terrifying', despite it claiming to be so.I thank Bonnier Zaffre for giving me a free copy of the book in exchange to my honest opinion. Face of the operation, Nolan Moore, is thrilled at the potential career reboot this could entail. It's mildly engrossing, appropriately icky, very familiar, and wholly ludicrous.Readers will see so much of the action coming that they'll wonder why the characters can't. Nolan Moore, one of the main characters, is an archaeologist with a docuseries, which always fascinates me.
